Empty for the last time!

These are the last pictures we will have of an empty block!

As of 9th September, we will have broken ground, with a slab soon to follow. Lap up the view from Torrent street, with a large reserve and park in front, and the picturesque blue mountains from behind :)

Just scraped in for the first home owners grant + boost (finishing 30th September!) which was lucky.
We have agonized over how to celebrate the 'breaking of ground'...golden shovel, ribbon cutting, aboriginal dance, but have decided we're taking things a bit far ;-)

Anyone know a good builder?

A disappointing let down occurs 3 months in with a builder, and it seemed like we were back to square one. Lewin proposes we meet with 'Joe'. It sounded like a fitting name for a builder, so we agreed. Joseph Botros, Operations Manager of 'CBD Construction' Sydney met with us at his newly built home in Kellyville. We were impressed by his quality of build, and his willingness to work with us and our budget. So, we made our decision! Quotes came back, plans went in, and within 2 weeks, were approved! We signed our contract with Joe on the 7th September, and then the ball was really rolling!

The Plans

So, land having been acquired, it was time to get a house on it! After traipsing through hundreds of display homes over several months, we had a clear picture in our minds. It just took the genius that is Lewin Wiles (Architect Extraordinaire-as pictured right) to put it on paper. The house transformed from a single storey humble abode, to a double storey dream home complete with balcony over-looking the park in front of us, and an alfresco facing the mountains behind.

We have land!

After 3 grueling days of sleeping at The Ponds display offices with 40 other eager land-buyers, we lined up as number 12 on the list for a block in the Monarch release. The morning had arrived, and we waited nervously for the prices to be announced. Lucky for us, our first preference of 20 blocks of land was priced at the bottom of the scale!
John and I shared a short moment of relief as we waited to be called into the office. One by one happy couples exited the office and blocks were crossed off the availability list. After months of ground work, and 3 days of camping (literally), it was our turn to make our choice, ...and we did! We walked out of the office, greeted by Boo, with grins from ear to ear, as we put a deposit down on our first preference, at our preferred price!
